LISTEN TO THE MUSIC: The Doobie Brothers play at CMAC

Just about everybody can sing along with the classic rock staple “Black Water,” a Patrick Simmons-penned tune that’s just one of the Doobie Brothers’ catalog of hits: “Listen to the Music,” “Jesus is Just Alright,” “Takin’ It to the Streets,” “China Grove,” “What a Fool Believes” and many more.
The Doobie Brothers played Constellation Brands-Marvin Sands Performing Arts Center (CMAC) Friday night — and for Doobies co-founder Simmons, it was something of a family affair, as his son Patrick Williams Jr. performed the opening set (and was joined by his dad on the CMAC stage).
The CMAC summer season is winding down, with just two shows left on the concert calendar: Idina Menzel on Aug. 30, and Dierks Bentley (with Kip Moore, Maddie & Tae and Canaan Smith) on Sept. 3. For ticket information, see www.cmacevents.com.
